Source of Inspiration

During COVID-19 each of us has had different experiences that have caused us to rethink the way we live, behave and interact with one another. As a street photographer interested in portraying other people’s perspectives and experiences, COVID-19 has greatly affected the way I take pictures and share other people’s stories. However, I know there are so many other unique stories and circumstances people are facing. As such, I wanted to develop a project that provides people with the opportunity to reflect on their experiences and share their stories and new realities through their own lens.

Who we are & What we did

Westside Viewfinder was composed of a diverse group of Westside Vancouver residents that wanted to take part in an artistic experience that encouraged them to reflect on their understandings and new realities during the COVID-19 pandemic. This project asked them to take part in a  four themed photography shoot over the course of 3 months (August 2020 - October 2020). Throughout the project, participants shared their experiences, became creative and developed bonds with one another.
